Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July

Every year, millions of people around the world take up the challenge and decide to refuse single-use plastics.

#ChooseToRefuse

Plastic Free July is a responsible Australian initiative that now has millions of participants in more than 150 countries. This movement which gave birth to a nonprofit Association invites to reduce or completely eliminate the use of plastic in our daily life during 1 month. Beyond that, the objective of this operation is to change participants' lifestyle habits in order to lead to a definitive transformation.

How to participate?

To attract the most reluctant and make this approach as accessible as possible, the Foundation proposes different "degrees" of commitment. You can simply avoid products with plastic packaging or banish it entirely from your daily life. The important thing is to be able to meet the challenge we have set ourselves. In addition, it provides participants with a guide that gives alternatives to the use of plastic.

This initiative responds to the problem of plastic waste, which is more and more numerous and has a harmful effect on the environment since it destroys fauna and flora.

What solution then?

Indeed, there are few (if any) solutions to the problem of plastic waste treatment. So it seems that the simplest alternative is at the source: not producing plastic avoids the question of waste management.

And to encourage producing companies to stop their production, what could be better than to boycott the purchase of products containing plastic.

The 7th continent designates a monstrous mass of plastic whose surface is equivalent to 3 times France and which does not stop extending in full Pacific. According to the Ocean Cleanup study published in Scientific Reports and published on 22 March 2018, this "floating continent" of plastic occupies 1.6 million km² in the Pacific Ocean.

Faced with this, more and more awareness campaigns are being set up to alarm the general public. Perhaps you saw Greenpeace's ocean pollution video 3 months ago and the video that shows the reaction of children when they discover the "Ocean of the Future"..:

Plastic Free July is a bit like the next step in raising awareness: it is an incentive to really act to save our planet.

AND WHAT ABOUT AATISE HERE?

At Aatise, we take into account the product life cycle in our manufacturing processes. In concrete terms, this means that we only use natural fibres, which allow our clothes to be biodegradable and therefore to feed the earth once thrown away. This is for example the case of our 100% biodegradable linen T-shirt or our virtuous Lyocell Pants. In a way, we're giving back to Earth what we took from her.
