The eco-responsible white shirt: a women's dressing room basic

The white shirt, an essential and historical piece.

This basic piece of women's clothing was previously considered as underwear. For a long time the collars and cuffs were a social marker. In the 1930s, it was a sartorial symbol of the struggle for gender equality for women.

Worn by many Hollywood stars such as Katharine Hepburn or Greta Garbo, the white shirt became an essential piece of clothing for women. Moreover, celebrities have given this basic shirt different styles: glamorous, casual, elegant...

It's different shapes and how to wear them.

The classic shirt

Classic doesn't mean obsolete, even if you think you've already worn it in every possible way, you're probably still far from having exploited its full potential.

How to wear it?

1. Under a jumper

Wearing a jumper over the shirt with the collar and sleeves visible is a great way to ensure a casual chic look. With a total black look, the white shirt brings a touch of brightness to the combo.

2. Chic Look

For ceremonies or parties, you can close its buttons to wear it in a chic way. For a modern touch, it can be matched with a coloured suit or white suit for a total white look.

3. Office look

Wearing a white shirt to the office is a professional and stylish way to look. Play around with the different shapes of trousers: palazzo, culottes etc. For a more sophisticated look, choose heels or loafers.

4. With a mini-skirt

The infallible duo. Mini-skirts have the power to visually lengthen legs and even more so if you combine them with heels. Dare to combine the white shirt with skirts in bright colours and prints.

XXL or Oversize Shirt

Very trendy these last years, this is a very transformable piece. Made of linen or cotton, it is similar to a man's shirt. The cut is loose, which gives the impression that the size worn is much larger. The sides are long and often more in the back. The seam is not fitted at the shoulder.

How to wear it ?

1. Like an over-shirt

It can be worn open over the look as a jacket. This goes very well with shorts and crop tops in summer.

2. Loose

So simple as leaving the shirt closed and hanging over the bottom, whether it's a spell or trousers. You can also roll up the sleeves for a more casual but no less feminine look. Don't forget winter! Opt for a turtleneck under the shirt.

3. As a dress

To go to the beach over a swimming costume, this is the perfect option for its lightness and fluidity. With or without a belt, this linen shirt dress can be worn with a sleeveless jacket or jumper.

The sleeveless linen top

Another basic that we all need in our wardrobe is the sleeveless top. Fluid and more or less short, it can be matched with jeans or denim shorts for a casual spring or summer look.

A piece for all body types

The white shirt allows you to create looks and trends very easily. But sometimes it can be complicated to find the right shirt for your body type. Here are our tips.

If you are rather slim and want to add volume to your body, choose shirts with puffed sleeves. In summer, take advantage of the opportunity to tie your shirt at the waist to emphasise your figure.

If you have curves, don't hesitate to unbutton slightly to show off your beautiful cleavage. You can also roll up the sleeves for a casual look.

Fabrics

Linen

Linen shirts are a timeless part of a woman's wardrobe. They are eco-responsible and adaptable to all occasions: at the office, summer evenings, at the beach... They are perfect when you wonder how to dress!

This material is recyclable, biodegradable and consumes very little water. It is also thermoregulating, its insulating fibre releases or traps air depending on the outside temperature and thus regulates your body temperature.

Ecovero

This artificial fibre is produced using wood pulp and solvents. This fabric is an ecological viscose, breathable and soft to the touch. Shirts made of Ecovero are very comfortable, light and pleasant to wear.
