Linen a summer or winter material for clothes?

We often think of summer when it comes to buying a linen garment, but in reality it is an essential garment for the stylish but environmentally conscious woman in any season.

Can you wear a linen garment in winter?

Very good question...But here is our answer: Linen is ideal for all seasons: because the fiber is thermo regulating: it keeps warm in winter and cool in summer.

How to wear our made in France linen sweater: for sport or for everyday?

For sport: Our linen treasures are ideal for sport: linen easily evacuates sweat and therefore keeps the skin dry. Ideal for not getting cold.

For everyday: Our oversized linen Zago sweatshirt can easily be worn over a t-shirt, shirt or even a dress. To complete the look you can wear it with Olaz recycled cotton and lyocell pants.

Is your sweater 100% made in France, i.e. even the yarn comes from France?

Or who produces the linen?

About 77% of linen fibers are produced between France (61%), Belgium (14%) and Holland (2%), (2019 figures). So France is the first producer of flax in the world, but 80% of the production is exported, especially to China.

Small crisp information:

A linen t-shirt from a Fast Fashion brand produced in China is 3 times cheaper than a t-shirt made in France BUT it goes around the world. Look for the mistake :)

The linen produced in France is known for its fineness and the high quality of the fiber. The climate and the soil are ideal for the manufacturing.

So to answer the first question: our linen yarn for t-shirts and sweatshirts are made from flax grown in France, Belgium and Holland.

What exactly is linen?

Linen is a vegetable fiber. And the wonderful thing about this natural fiber is that it needs no pesticides or fertilizers and is not genetically manipulated. Linen, an eco-friendly plant par excellence!

How is flax produced?

Flax grows without watering and needs little fertilizer or pesticides. The flax is cut and left on the ground (retting) or the maceration is done under the action of the weather. The stalks are crushed and scraped to remove the flax fiber itself (scutching). The fiber is then combed to prepare it for spinning.

The flax yarn is then ready to be woven or knitted. During the processing of the fiber no waste is produced, everything can be used: flax seeds, flax oil, flax chaff and even paper pulp.

Even the roots that remain in the soil after cutting will, by decomposing, enrich and aerate the soil. The fiber is biodegradable and therefore compostable at the end of its life.

In addition, our pieces are sewn with cotton thread to allow full composting.

A little history of linen ?

Linen was introduced in Europe 2000 years ago. Already the Babylonians and Egyptians used linen ropes and wrapped their mummies in linen.

Why is linen environmentally friendly?

Ecological advantages :

Made in France, or in Europe: locally manufactured (plant, thread, fabric),

Minimal carbon footprint,

Respects Social and Environmental Responsibility.

The properties of linen :

Linen is:

Antibacterial,

Antifungal and

Thermoregulating (cool in summer, warm in winter)

The only problem with linen is that it is a fiber that wrinkles easily.

You can choose to use an anti-crease treatment, but we avoid these treatments which are often harmful to the environment and health.
